Get in touch for support

A telephone helpline run by Victim Support has been established for anyone who has been affected.

If you would like to speak to someone and talk through your concerns, please get in touch. You can do so by calling 0808 281 1136 (Monday-Friday 9-5 and voicemail outside of these times) or by contacting us using our Livechat service (24/7).

Victim Support also has a team of local Caseworkers who can provide ongoing support, signposting and advocacy to anyone impacted by the Legacy investigation. This can also include but is not limited to:

  • Help and support with banks and other organisations in relation to fraud
  • Advice and guidance in relation to the Criminal Justice System and Courts Process
  • Specialised support for children and young people who may have been impacted, along with advice for parents to support and talk to their children about worries and concerns

Dealing with the media

The media may contact you if you have been affected by this investigation. It is important that the decision about whether to speak to the media is yours and it should be an informed choice.

You can find more information about dealing with the media and some things to think about if you are planning to speak to them on the Victim Support website.

Support for Victims of Funeral Plan Fraud

As part of the Legacy Funeral Home incident, in Hull, a number of people have been affected by funeral plan fraud. This means that you, or a relative, may have paid for a funeral plan, thinking that this plan would be put in place. However, it may have come to your attention or been brought to your attention that the plan was not put in place and no arrangement have been made.

Experiencing fraud or any other crime can provoke a range of emotions and particularly when that fraud relates to such traumatic circumstances. Fraud impacts people differently and you may feel anger and frustration, embarrassment and shame, sadness and disbelief as well as feeling the financial aspects.

Although these are common reactions, it’s important to remember that only the fraudster is responsible for this crime taking place.

If you think you may have been affected by this fraud, please see the links below.

Victim Support is free, confidential, and independent

We will never ask for your bank details and would recommend that you only provide these details to someone you know is from your bank, building society or credit card provider.

You should not need to pay anyone to help you with a refund due to this fraud. We would first recommend that you pursue a refund yourself or with support from Victim Support.
